A TEENAGE girl escaped an abduction bid after breaking free from a would-be kidnapper in a daylight struggle on an industrial estate.
Police have appealed for information from witnesses to the incident, near the Barbour factory on the Bede Industrial Estate, in Jarrow, South Tyneside, on Thursday morning.
The teenager, from South Tyneside, was walking past the corner of the factory, in Monksway, at about 8am when she was grabbed from behind by a man.
He tried to drag her towards a car parked at the Barbour factory, but she managed to break free and run away.
Although she was not injured, police said the victim was left extremely shaken.
She described the man as white, aged about 50, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in, with a medium build, grey hair and a dark moustache that was also greying.
The car was said to be long, dark red and believed to have four doors.
Witnesses, or anyone who recognises the description of the man, are asked to ring South Tyneside police, on 0191-454 7555, extension 65059.
