Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League: Tynedale moved into third position - their highest rating so far - and dented the title aspirations of Lintz when they easily defeated their rivals.

Although Tim Adcock opened with 46, it was a number of smaller contributions by several players which enabled Tynedale to compile a useful 184 even though Gary Christie captured five wickets at an economical 52 runs.

Lintz's reply never threatened and although Gordon Baker carried his bat for 37 the innings closed on 107 as Richard Darling and Scott Kay both took four wickets.

Lanchester are still out in front. Runs were scarce at home to Leadgate who eventually posted a modest 130-7 which included a valuable 48 by Fletcher. Phil Carlin, playing only his second game since his return from Iraq, starred for Lanchester and his half-century was a crucial contribution.

Once again, professional Banda struck form scoring 30 after taking four of the Leadgate wickets for just 32 runs.

Sacriston had been in good form and Annfield Plain were struggling but it was the Plain who came out on top by a ten wickets margin.

Bruce Armstrong (65 not out) and Aldo Van den Berg, with an undefeated 86, produced their best form of the season to sweep their side past the target of 153. Harry Hubber's 49 was the best on offer by the visiting batsmen.

Despite 65 from Stephen Humble and 42 from Paul Dumigham, Swalwell's 181-6 proved insufficient against second-top Newcastle City at Derwenthaugh. But it was an extremely close call with just one wicket separating the pair.

Masood Mirza was the match-winner, hitting a magnificent100 not out as City scraped home even though Jimmy Smith took six of the nine wickets for only 65 runs.

Paul Rutherford set up Ashington's nine wickets victory at Backworth when he returned 6-20. Neil Wood (50 not out) and Simon Prudhoe (37 not out) then steered the Colliers to victory with an unbroken second wicket stand.

There is no change at the top of Division A2. Leaders Whickham won losing just one wicket at home to Alnwick when Michael Armstrong remained unbeaten with 73 and Michael Brundle added 62 not out.

Consett maintained their push for promotion defeating Blyth by eight wickets. McPherson (81 not out) and Marshall with 32 were in command as was Michael Clark (43 not out) in Burnopfield's easy win at Seaton Burn - a result which took them into third place.
