TWO police constables were taken to hospital after the marked car they were travelling in crashed into a garden wall.
The driver, a 28-year-old police constable stationed at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, was responding to an incident in nearby Seamer when the accident happened at 3.39am yesterday. The Peugeot 306 hatchback she was driving crashed into a garden wall and lamppost in Seamer Road, at its junction with Hinderwell Road. She and her passenger, a 34-year-old police constable also stationed at Scarborough, were taken to Scarborough District Hospital. Anyone who saw the accident is asked to call Scarborough police on (01723) 509555.
POLICE PLEA: A man suffered serious head injuries in a city centre fight. The disturbance, involving two men, took place at about 7pm on Saturday in Dodsworth Avenue, near its junction with Saxon Place, York. The injured man was taken to York District Hospital and was yesterday still undergoing treatment. Police know that there was a large group of people, some in parked cars, outside a takeaway near where the incident took place, and are appealing for them to get in touch on (01904) 669384.

MAN HURT: A motorist was taken to hospital yesterday after he was involved in a two-car crash. The accident occurred on the B6301 between Cornsay Colliery and Tow Law, County Durham, shortly before 4pm. A man was cut free from a vehicle by firefighters and taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
