A shower of silver and gold fireworks will illuminate the ruins of Gisborough Priory next Saturday, at the end of the annual Priory Prom.

The spectacular event will provide the finale to a day of entertainment in the priory grounds in Guisborough, Cleveland's original capital.

Concert-goers will be entertained by the King's Division Waterloo Band playing music from Mozart to The Beatles.

The band will be joined by The Darlington Singer of the Year, soprano Sarah Kelly, who will also lead a singalong.

Visitors are advised to take seats or rugs and a picnic.

The concert starts at 8pm and doors open at 7pm. Tickets cost £7.50, £5 concessions and £2.50 for children aged five to 16.

Earlier in the day, teddy bears will be having their picnic at Gisborough Priory. There will also be traditional games and music from the Dixie Band.

The event is from 10.30am to 3.30pm, when a the bells of St Nicholas Church will be rung. Entrance is 50p per person or £1 for a family group.

The events at the 12th Century priory are being funded by the Guisborough Market Town Initiative. Priory Project volunteers are working with the events team at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (01642 444373) to organise the events.
