RAMBLERS set off on a series of walks yesterday to make sure that all the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle slotted perfectly in place.
It did not take too much mental work to solve the puzzle, but some walkers hiked 24 miles to ensure the jigsaw was complete by the afternoon. Many people took part in the 16 special walks organised across the North York Moors, with all participants finishing at the Lion Inn, at Blakey Ridge.
The walkers carried with them pieces of a giant jigsaw - entitled Every Piece is Precious - all of which were placed together to create a special map of the moors.
The walks ranged from an easy five-mile stroll to a demanding 24-mile hike.
Once the jigsaw was fully assembled, music and celebrations at the Lion Inn marked the success of the event.
