Congratulations to new member Emma Tullett who was the first lady to finish in the Kirkby Malzeard 10K, the latest race in the Black Sheep Series, over a testing, undulating course, on another very hot day.
The race was won by Julian Mawson of Otley AC in a time of 34.08. Cameron Choules was the first Harrier home, in 11th place in a time of 38.33, with Stephan Tomaszewski, returning to racing after a long lay-off, 24th in 40.50. Emma was next, in 33rd place in 41.53 with brother Ben Tullett 38th in 42.27. Alan Somers came 51st in 43.50, Kaye Mechie 106th in 48.38, Catherine Lumb, also returning from injury, 121st in 51.54, Nicola Thorpe 126th in 52.47, Ian Codling 138th in 54.04, Judith Seaton 142nd in 54.33, Fiona Wilson 145th in 55.10, Sarah Somers 151st in 56.06, Jo Fambely 162nd in 57.36, Chris McAleenan 172nd in 60.51, Pamela Sherlock 176th in 62.19 and Marian Codling 178th in 62.55. There were 185 finishers in all, of which 16 were Thirsk and Sowerby members.
