Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15s: Gateshead Fell defeated Boldon by the slender margin of 11 runs at the end of a low scoring game.
Batting first the Fell realised 75 for nine and Mark Storey was top scorer with 20. Brown captured three wickets for 17 runs in five overs, Martin had two for 16 from the four overs he delivered, while Flood picked up two wickets at a cost of one run in one over.
Replying Boldon found Jeff Bowman and Jonathan Roseby in outstanding form with the ball for Gateshead Fell. Bowman delivered four overs and captured four wickets for a mere 16 runs and Roseby had three for 16 from the five overs he bowled.
Chester-le-Street defeated Eppleton by 15 runs and Sunderland overtook the Hetton Lyons total of 82 while at Felling, Burnmoor were winners by six wickets.
Paul Leonard led Felling to 78 for seven scoring 38 and although he returned two wickets for six runs in five overs when Felling fielded, Burnmoor hit the required runs losing just four wickets.
In the U15 League Cup Philadelphia went down by nine wickets to Eppleton in the semi-final. When they made first use of the wicket Phili ended on 92 for nine from their 20 overs and most of the runs were scored by Luke Anderson with an unbeaten 52. Scott Borthwick was in splendid form with the ball for Eppleton, his five wickets costing 36 runs and he received good support from Craig Hughes with two for 18.
Borthwick then went to work with the bat finishing undefeated on 38 which together with 30 by Anthony Anderson enabled Eppleton to win losing one wicket. They had more than two overs to spare.
Under-18s
The fixtures involving Burnmoor and Gateshead Fell, Chester-le-Street and Felling and Boldon v South Shields were all postponed.
Durham City staged their match with Eppleton and it was the visitors who came out on top by a margin of five wickets. Patrick Dias carried his bat for 54 as Durham reached 80 for six with three of the wickets falling to Hughes at a cost of just ten runs. Replying Eppleton made the necessary 83 for five when Anderson
contributed 20 and for Durham City Tim Edwards had two for 20.
Philadelphia visited South Hetton and won by two wickets. Faced with a target for 95 they were indebted to William Orchin for his score of 39 and for the home team Paul Davidson claimed four wickets for 35 runs.
Batting first South Hetton realised 94 for eight which included 37 by Daniel Stewart and 25 from Davidson, while for Phili Paul Neasham had the outstanding figures of six for 19 in six overs.
Horden had 38 runs in hand of Sunderland. Batting first they totalled 108 for three before restricting Sunderland to 70 for six which included 28 by James Phillips. Carl Watson was the match winner with the ball for Horden claiming four wickets for 20 runs.
Philadelphia will meet Eppleton in the final of the George Peacock Memorial Trophy. They defeated Durham City by five wickets following a high scoring game which featured two outstanding individual innings. Patrick Dias struck 15 boundaries in 81 leading Durham City to 122 for three before Luke Anderson had a five and 11 fours in his scored of 67.
In the other semi-final Eppleton totalled 108 before restricting Gateshead Fell to 92.
Foster's Northumberland League Under-15s
Benwell Hill romped to the huge total of 159 without loss in 20 overs when they entertained neighbours Newcastle City. Sumeet Khanna struck two sixes and six boundaries in 50 not out and Barney Moore had seven fours carrying his bat for 51 before Newcastle City were restricted to 112 for five in their 20 overs. Shazi Ali took two of the five wickets to fall for nine runs in three overs.
The South Northumberland batsmen were also in form against Backworth posting 102 for three. Niall Penfold recorded two fours in 30 and Tom Akehurst had a six and two boundaries making 29 not out. Vignesh Vetrivel added 25 with two fours before Backworth were all out for only 39. Tom Watson captured four wickets for 11 runs in five overs while Matthew Benn had three wickets without conceding a run from the two overs he sent down.
Tynemouth were at home to Morpeth and celebrated a ten wickets victory. Faced with a target of 77 they were indebted to Richard Coughtree who carried his bat for 40 made from 52 deliveries. He found the boundary line on four occasions. Andrew Smith gave support and he too was not out with 24 which included one boundary. H received 49 deliveries.
When they batted first Morpeth ended with 76 for six and their top scorer was Jack Palmer with 28. He struck three boundaries and received 39 bowls. Stephen Harrison had a good night with the ball for Tynemouth and in five overs claimed three wickets for eight runs while Jack Patterson returned two for 13 from the four overs he delivered.
Foster's Tyneside Senior League Under-15
Craig Burke hit a marvellous 104 not out from 65 deliveries when Sacriston defeated Greenside by 86 runs. The talented youngster crashed a couple of sixes and 17 boundaries which together with 26 from Rollie Hockaday enabled Sacriston to post 139 for two. Both wickets were taken by Glen Scott at a cost of 31 runs in five overs.
When Greenside replied they were all out for 53. Graham Stephenson captured three wickets without conceding a run in two overs and Chris Tilley had two for 12, also from a two overs spell.
Andrew Johnson was another youngster in good form when Blaydon entertained Tantobie. He recorded one six and 11 fours carrying his bat for 79 and Blaydon reached 133 for three. All three wickets were taken by Ward for 24 runs in five overs.
When they went into bat Tantobie were dismissed for 66 and their top scorer was McGine with 20 not out. Michael Banks had a good day with the ball for Blaydon capturing three wickets for 13 runs in four overs.
Shotley Bridge totalled 153 without loss against Consett with Rourke ending undefeated on 82 while when Consett replied and made 86 for three, Matt Dixon was undefeated with 28.
An unbeaten 69 from Andrew Smith led Lintz to a ten wickets victory at home to Lanchester who batting first posted 96 for three.
Marcus Peart was another player to make a half-century in the Burnopfield total of 132 for four. His contribution was 53 and an exicting finale ensued as Crookhall responded with 121 for four including 42 not out by Michael Thompson and 31 not out from Michael Smith. Peart also starred with ball for Burnopfield taking three wickets for 18 runs.
Under-18s
Ryton and Whickham tied their game with identical scores of 89 for seven. Philip Bates was the star claiming five wickets for 19 runs in five overs when Whickham batted first and then top scoring with 37 in the Ryton reply.
Marcus Peart recorded nine boundaries contributing 54 to the Burnopfield total of 149 for six in the home game with Greenside. Linton took three for 36 from five overs and then top scored with 22 as Greenside replied with 76 for four.
At Blaydon, Swalwell went down by nine wickets. They managed only 55 for seven which included 20 not out by Rob Grand while for
Blaydon, Mark Cawthorne had two for six, Richard Neve two for nine and Michael Banks two for ten. Cawthorne and Neve each bowled five overs and Banks sent down four overs.
Sacriston posted 137 for one in their home game with Consett who were 99 for four when stumps were drawn. John Lee hit a six and nine boundaries carrying his bat for 75 and Martin Hubber added 21 to the Sacriston total. Hubber then took two wickets for eight runs in five overs, Andrew Dixon had one for 37 from his five overs spell and Graham Stephenson picked up one wicket at a cost of eight runs in three overs.
Under-18 Cup
Whickham defeated Lintz by nine wickets at the end of a high scoring game. Stephen Smith led Lintz to 106 for four when he scored 69 before Molton carried his bat for 40 and Bowman made 50 when Whickham replied with 109 for one.
Sacriston also reached the semi-finals defeating Crookhall also by a nine wickets margin.
Andrew Dixon was their man of the match and he ended undefeated on 43 while Martin Hubber carried his bat for 29. When Crookhall made first use of the wicket and realised 89 for seven, their top scorer was Richardson with 37 while for Sacriston Dixon took three wickets for 12 runs and John Lee two for 21.
Swalwell had eight wickets in hand of Shotley Bridge who made 109 for five including 34 by Rourke. Warwick captured two of the wickets to fall for 27 runs and responding Swalwell ended 110 for two of which Rob Grand scored 42 not out, Gavin Cree 21 not out and George Neaven 26.
