Durham City celebrated their first win of the season in the Second Division when they visited Wingate and made their victory by taking the middle three frames.
John Bourne took the first for Wingate and Paul Harrison the last, whilst the Durham winners were Brian Dunn, Peter McClean and Gary Ward. Meadowfield held on to a thee points lead at the top of the Second Division after they only dropped one point to the visiting Ferryhilll, who had Glyn Toas as their only winner. The home side had wins from Stephen Hughes, Norman Smith, Craig Hughes and Ian Hodgson.
Crowtrees also took four points from their home game against Langley Park after losing the first frame to Peter Morgan. The home side went to victory with wins from Steve Armstrong with a 46 break, Keith McLauchlan, Martin Wolfe and Sean Johnston.
Spennymoor B and Stanley Central now share equal third place after the Central were never head in their match at the Moors. Norman Rimmington put Stanley ahead but Micky Anderson knocked in a 44 break to level. Harry Grimes restored the visitors' lead only to see Alan Clarke equalise. In the decider Stanley's Walter Cornell beat Phil Wilson.
Wheatley Hill B share the third place with Spennymoor B and Stanley Central after they beat the visiting Crook Belle Vue by the odd point. Ken Johnson and Paul Taylor put the Hill ahead but Harold Lomax and John Warriner levelled. In the decider the home side's Dave Blyth beat Derek Potts.
Coundon moved two points clear at the top of the Third Division after they whitewashed their hosts at Leeholme B. The visiting winners were Frank Nicholson, Steven Bennett, Stuart Neil, Willy Shoulder and Mally Ryder.
The second placed, Bearpark were only able to edge through at home to Leeholme A by the odd point. David Jackson, Glen Morton and Alex Donaldson won for the home side whilst Lawrence Jones and Anthony Foster won for Leeholme, who move up to third place, five points behind Bearpark.
Tow Law A beat the visiting Sacriston by the odd point with the Evans brothers, Jeff and Dale being the key men for the visitors with good wins. The home side had wins from Charlie Donaghy, Tommy Williams and Doug Watson.
New Durham went two up at Hunwick with wins from Brian Seaton and Thomas Cairns but the home side fought back to level with points from Norman Kirkley and Trevor Lomax. In the decider, Des Mason took Hunwick to victory when he beat Neil Phillips.
Tow Law B made an unlucky start at Fishburn B when Adam Orton looked to have taken the first frame when he potted the deciding black against Barry Underwood but then saw the cue ball slip into the pocket as well. Fishburn added wins from Jamie Hodgson and George Whitelock with a 36 break, whilst the Lawyers replied with wins from Lee Stockdale and Paul Chollerton.
Spennymoor A were taken to the decider at Brandon before they won to maintain their five points lead at the top of the First Division. John Middleton put the home side ahead but Karl Welch equalised. Brian Graham restored the home lead with Paul Biddle levelling. In the decider Paul Atkinson took the Moors to victory by beating Graeme Jackson.
Newhouse remained on course in second place in the First Division after their recent promotion when they beat the visiting Shotton Palms in the decider. Jimmy Evans junior and Colin Jobes took points for the Palms but Ronnie Pearson and John Maddox levelled. In the decider Newhouse's Paul Wright beat Barry Hall.
Newton Aycliffe moved up to share equal third place with Brandon and Sherburn Village after they only dropped one point to their hosts at Witton Gilbert. The visitors looked to be on their way to a whitewash as they took the first four frames through Ronnie Hall, Ritchie Young, Marc Howe and Simon Tweddle but Malcolm Peart stepped up to play a captain's part for Witton by taking the final frame.
Sherburn Village need a big win against the visiting Fishburn A to move into second place in the First Division but they only managed to take the first and last frames through Peter McGowan and Scott Mallaburn. Fishburn took the three middle frames through Peter Davison, Brian Quest and John Griffin.
Willington moved off the foot of the First Division and now share the equal second from bottom spot with their visitors, Wheatley Hill A, who went down by the odd point despite twice leading. Dave Walker put the Hill ahead but Arthur Goldsborough levelled. John Worthington restored the visitors' lead only to see Tom Parkin level. The decider went to Willington when Jeremy Martin beat Ronnie Peacock by a single point.
