ADarlington Mowden Park Under-16 Girls' rugby player has been chosen to attend the RFUW England Performance Camp at Loughborough University at the end of next month.
A month ago Mowden player Abby Blackburn was informed of her place at Loughborough, now teammate Rosie Mangle has received notification of her selection. Everyone at Mowden Park is delighted with the girls' outstanding success.
Sixteen-year-old Rosie who has been dogged with injury this season is thrilled.
She said: "I'm over the moon - absolutely chuffed. I just hope I'm 100 per cent fit by the time I'm due to go to the camp."
Rosie's injuries have included a broken foot and a dislocated shoulder - her foot has just come out of plaster and she will need physio to build up the muscle.
Rosie's dream is to play rugby for England. At present she is coming to the end of her GCSE exams at Carmel School and in September will go to the rugby academy at Houghall College, Durham where she will study a BTEC Diploma in Sport and Exercise Studies.
Ultimately she hopes to go to university and pursue a career in sport but, for now, her rugby comes first.
Anita Blackburn, Mowden Park's U16 Girls' Team Secretary said: "There is no doubt that girls' rugby at Mowden Park is now some of the best in the country.
"Rosie really does deserve her place at Loughborough. She has natural talent, innate handling skills and superb agility, strength and speed. Her achievements were recently recognised at the Club's junior presentation evening when she won her team's player of the year award. We expect great things of her."
