TON-UP TEST: As part of the three-year Wear Walking for Health initiative, the second Wear Walking for Health Ton- Up Challenge will be launched on Monday at Peases West Athletics Ground, Crook, from noon.
The goal is a personal achievement target of either 100 minutes of activity, 100 laps of the athletics track or 100 miles clocked up around the track and/or on identified routes on the Peases West Walkway.
The Ton-Up Challenge is free from Monday to Friday, between noon and 1.45pm, Monday and Wednesday, between 6.15pm and 8pm, Tuesday between 6.15pm and 7.30pm, Thursday from 6pm to 7pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 11.45am.

SALE AND MARKET: A table- top sale and mini-market is being held in St Catherine's Community Centre, Crook, on today, from 9am to 2pm.
FAIR SUM: Norman Smith, church warden of St Catherine's Church, Crook, has thanked everyone who supported the summer fair on Saturday. The event raised £1,000 for church funds.
SAMBA EVENT: A samba carnival takes places at the Glenholme Leisure Centre, Crook, on Friday, at 9.30am. The event is being funded by the Crook and Bishop Auckland Regeneration Fund.
ANNUAL FETE: St Cuthbert's RC Church, Crook, is holding its annual garden fete on Saturday. The event, which will feature Framwellgate School band, pony rides, stalls and sideshows, will be opened by Councillor Olive Brown, leader of Wear Valley District Council, at 1.30pm.
IRISH SINGER: Irish country singer Ann Breen will be performing at the Civic Hall on Friday, July 11, in aid of the Stanhope and Weardale branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Tickets are available from Vi Todd on (01388) 762634.
CHURCH EVENT: St Thomas Church, Stanley Crook, will be staging a series of arts events between Saturday and Friday, July 4. The event will feature work by postgraduate students at Sunderland University, music, a concert and a history exhibition.
