COMPUTER workers have been stepping out for charity.
Footsore employees from the IT department at SembCorp Utilities, Teesside, trekked 110 miles across the North Yorkshire Moors between Helmsley and the coast at Filey.
The walk raised £1,000, which was split between Childline and a multiple sclerosis charity.
Ian Horner, Paul Craddy, Les Lawson and Nick Hall took six days to complete their marathon.
Mr Horner said: "We covered about 20 miles a day and stayed in bed and breakfast accommodation overnight. It was fun, but the terrain was a lot tougher than we expected."
Jan Robson, a member of Linthorpe Friends of Childline, said: "It is a sad fact but, due to a lack of funds, less than half of the children who phone Childline will get through."
She added: "This money is gratefully accepted and will enable us to provide comfort, advice and protection to many more local children, taking us one step nearer our goal of answering every child who needs help."
