A WARNING has been issued to elderly householders over the activities of two bogus workmen.
The duo, claiming to be from Dyno-Rod, struck at the homes of women aged 93 and 83, in Shiney Row, Wearside, last week.
Police are linking the two offences, in which the men escaped with cash.
The first took place last Wednesday, at 1.15pm. In the second, on Friday, at 2.30pm, one of the duo went to check the water taps while the second searched the property for cash, before leaving.
Following both incidents, the elderly victims were said to be shocked, but not injured.
One of the pair was about 30, 5ft 7in, of medium build with black curly hair, and a fresh complexion. He spoke with a local accent and wore a dark three-quarter length coat.
His accomplice was about 20, 5ft 10in, thin, with short, straight, fair hair, and a pale complexion. He also had a local accent and wore a navy jumper and dark trousers.
