Bass North Cleveland League: Hinderwell were all out for just 46 when they met at Loftus.
Jeff Morrison and Gary Smithies were in magnificent form with the ball for the visitors and the home side's innings lasted just 20.3 overs. Morrison claimed six wickets for a mere nine runs in 10.3 overs, six of which were maidens while Smithies returned four for 29 from the ten overs he bowled.
When they replied Loftus needed just 15.1 overs to make the winning runs. Opener Pearson carried his bat for 15 but it was Alan Midgley who gave the innings impetus when he struck four boundaries in an unbeaten 31 out of a total of 50 for two. Both wickets were taken by Simon Bowes at a cost of 25 runs in two overs.
Brotton made a useful 163 but still lost to Ormesby Hall who had half of their wickets remaining. Wilkinson was the match-winner and, opening the Ormesby Hall innings, he finished unbeaten with 104 to his name. Four of the five wickets to fall were taken by Broughton for 65 runs.
When Brotton batted first Wrigley opened the innings scoring 37 and after three other batsmen managed only seven runs between them, Broughton came to the rescue with 43 partnering Garbutt, who carried his bat for 52. Peacock was in excellent form with the ball for Ormesby Hall and he captured seven of the wickets for just 49 runs.
Dormans won by seven wickets at Paragonians. Hadfield captured four for 55, Dale took three for 24 and Holland three for 16 as Paragonians were restricted to 115 all out. Hughes was the top scorer with 40 and not far behind was Melrose who contributed 39. In reply, Moor (33) and Iqbal (51 no) put together a productive partnership for the second wicket which set Dormans on their way to victory.
The Merlin defeated Normanby Parklands, also by a margin of five wickets. They were required to score 168 and were grateful to opener Pacitto for his 54 and to his first wicket colleague Sutherland (26). Later, Appleton ended undefeated on 21 when he formed an unbroken partnership for the sixth wicket with Tweedy.
When they went into bat first Normanby Parklands were all out for 167.
Fazil was the leading run-maker in the early batting order with 27 and Fox added 24 but it was Tyreman who top performed and he carried his bat for 46. Burdon had a good day with the ball for The Merlin taking three for 39 while Tweedy, Mee, Mullen and Sutherland were also among the wickets.
In Division Two, Dormanstown defeated New Marske by 60 runs. Batting first, Dormanstown compiled 142 for seven from their 45 overs as Steven Johnson struck seven boundaries in 43. Collins added 23 and Moon, T Lloyd and Smith all reached double figures while for New Marske, David Ovington captured three for 55 in 14 overs, two of which were maidens.
When New Marske replied they were back in the pavilion after 27 overs with only 82 runs on the board. Charlie Hatch was their main wicket taker and he returned the outstanding figures of six for 24 from 13 overs, bowling six maidens. T Lloyd took two for 25 and Collins one for 31.
After making only 105 all out Blacksmith's Arms lost by four wickets to Boosbeck. D Lorraines (21) ands Lorraines (23) top scored for Boosbeck and after six wickets has fallen Passmore and Leach saw their side to victory despite Prosser taking three for 33 and Barker two for 24 for the visitors.
When Blacksmith's Arms went into bat first they conceded two early the wickets of both openers before Sherwood scored 35 and Etherington 23. Daynes claimed four for 38 and Oakley four for 18 while D Lorraines took the other two wickets at a cost of 29 runs.
Runs were at a premium when Moorsholm entertained Normanby Parklands. Hucker had four for 19 as Parklands were dismissed for only 53 before Moorsholm won losing five wickets. McGough and Ahmed both took two wickets in the Normanby Parklands attack.
Loftus went down by 35 runs at home to Cowpen Bewley. Batting first the visitors ended on 145 all out which included 41 by Barlow, 26 from Jenkins and 22 by Carr while for Loftus, Shaw took half of the ten wickets for just 57 runs, Berrill had three for 38 and Bulmer two for 32.
When they batted Loftus could only make 100.
Kenfield made a mid-innings of 22 before last man Hogan made the top score of the innings, 26. Humphrey took five for 15 and Carr had four for 47 for Cowpen Bewley.
Skelton Castle managed only 53 all out in their home game with Ormesby Hall for whom Hutchinson claimed six of the wickets for only 13 runs.
Roberts, with two for 23 and Poole (1-24) shared three wickets.
Batting first Ormesby Hall posted 183 for seven and most of the runs make from Matthews with 39 and Ackram (31 no). The top contribution was extras on 48.
