DETECTIVES investigating a street stabbing have appealed for help from revellers who would have been making their way home at the time.
A 23-year-old Newcastle man was stabbed as he walked through a car park between the Vermont Hotel, in The Side, and the Bridge Hotel, near the city's High Level Bridge, early on Sunday.
Blows were struck to his upper back and shoulder with a sharp implement, causing puncture wounds.
The victim was taken to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment before being released.
Anyone who saw the incident or witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity, between 1.30am and 2am, is asked to contact Newcastle CID, on 0191-214 6555, extension 62151.
