The second Sure Start Centre in Stockton has its official opening from 10am to 3pm tomorrow.

The centre, next to Ragworth Neighbourhood Centre, St John's Way, Roseworth, offers a range of activities for parents and their children. Huntcliffe School Steel Band will be providing entertainment at the opening. The centre is part of a £6m capital project that will see similar facilities throughout Stockton, Thornaby and Billingham to provide early education, childcare and health services for children and their families within local communities.

HOMES SCHEME: Stockton Borough Council has received a planning application from Bett Homes (North East) Limited to demolish the Holmesdale Residential Home, in Station Road, Billingham, and build 15 town houses.

COLLECTORS FAIR: Records and bric-a-brac will be on sale at a collectors fair and table-top sale, in Saltburn on Saturday. It will be held at Saltburn Community Centre, Windsor Road from 9.30am to 4pm.

FARMERS' MARKET: A farmers' market is taking place at Nature's World, Ladgate Lane, Acklam, Middlesbrough, on Sunday, from 10am to 3pm. There will be a wide variety of goods on sale, which have all been produced by local farmers. There will also be a craft market.

CARE HOME: The Hadrion Healthcare Group has applied to Stockton Borough Council for planning permission to build a residential care home at Belasis House, Marsh House Avenue, Billingham. It also wants to build ten semi-detached bungalows with car parking on the same site.

SHED BLAZE: Arsonists are being blamed for a fire at a roofing suppliers shed in Kirkleatham Street, Redcar, early yesterday. Cleveland Police are investigating.
