Junior Round Up: Two third places and two runners up slots were what Sunderland Ice Hockey Club gained at the Telford tournament at the weekend.

Sunderland Commanches B and Cherokees got to the finals of Under-14 B and Under 12 events respectively.

Four teams participated in all four of the events over the weekend with Telford and Sunderland competing all of them.

Commanches B were beaten 5-4 by hosts Telford in the final. In an entertaining opening period Richard Emerson, Jake Roberts and Martin Hall were Commanches scorers during a 3-3 period. Marc Bell put Commanches ahead on 27.45 and two goals in two minutes gave Telford victory.

It was revenge for Telford after Sunderland won 3-1 in the mini-league as Emerson Martyn Davies and Roberts were Commanches marksmen in the victory. Cardiff went down 8-0 to Commanches. In the Wearsiders opening game Emerson grabbed a hat trick in the win along with goals from Hall (2), Ross Cameron, Davies and James Hamilton. The remaining Commanches B tie was a 1-1 against Coventry. Ross Cameron equalising at 28.00 after Coventry took a 19 minute lead.

Sunderland Cherokees reached the Under-12 final going down 5-3 to Cardiff. Cherokees defeated Cardiff 3-1 in the mini-league tie.

Cherokees completed their round robin series cruising to a 12-3 win over Solihull Kings.

Sunderland Commanches A finished third in the Under 14 A event. An 8-1 win over Swindon gave them third place.

It was a double win for Commanches as Swindon lost 5-0 in the league tie. Murdy and Martin Thrumble each scored twice plus a Moutrey strike were the scorers. Sunderland Apaches also finished third in Under-10 event. A 4-2 win for Apaches over Cardiff brought them third place.

Apaches also did the double when defeating Cardiff 5-3 in the league round robin.

Under 12 Event - Telford 3, Solihull 0; Cardiff 1, Sunderland 3; Telford 2, Sunderland 2; Telford 1, Cardiff 9; Solihull 3, Sunderland 12.

Third/Fourth Play Off - Telford 4, Solihull 1. Final - Cardiff 5, Sunderland 3.
