Shildon's young athletes were on school duty on Saturday at the County Schools Championships held at Monkton Stadium Jarrow.
There was some remarkable performances with the club producing eight county champions from 13 athletes with four runners up and one third place, all in all 12 athletes qualified to represent Durham County at the Schools Inter Counties Championships held at the same venue tomorrow.

The next day at the Newton Aycliffe 10k some of the junior used the race as a training run after their efforts of the previous day. Junior coach Dave Owens made his road race debut with a fine run in 102nd place in a time of 45. 54.

Newton Aycliffe
Lewis Moses won the intermediate boys 1500m at the Durham Schools track championships held at Jarrow at the weekend.
He took the pace up at the halfway mark and with a blistering last two laps went on to win easily in 4:07 which was a personal best by seven seconds and also achieving the national schools qualifying time to book his place in the English schools championships at Sheffield on July 11.
