A VOLUNTEERS' organisation is hoping to attract more recruits following the success of a recent fair.
Earlier this month, the work carried out by volunteers in Durham was recognised at a Volunteers Fair, in Millennium Place, Durham.
Among those receiving certificates for their work were Dot Dowson, from Bearpark Residents' Group; Sarah Bradley, from the Durham Dyspraxia Foundation; Paula Bradley, who runs the Dunelm Phab Club; and History of Education Project volunteer Helen Davison.
Rhianne Jones, Durham Volunteer Bureau co-ordinator, said: "Without the support of volunteers like these, most local charities and voluntary organisations in Durham would not be able to operate effectively.
"Many local organisations joined us in paying tribute to the invaluable work carried out by volunteers, and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
"I hope that the event has inspired more people to give time and put something back into the community."
