A MAN who raised thousands for cancer charities has died.
Ian Moore's family, from Coundon, have vowed to continue his fundraising crusade following his death in Bishop Auckland General Hospital this week.
Mr Moore, who was 38, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1992 and was twice given hope when the disease went into remission.
His last fundraising event was a charity night at Coundon Workmen's Club in April which raised more than £2,000.
Mr Moore's brother-in-law Gary Heighington said his widow Sharon, son Stephen and friends would carry on his work.
He said: "Ian was an example and inspiration to everybody. He never complained or felt sorry for himself. He was always making plans for the future."
Mr Moore's funeral was held on Saturday at St Joseph's Church.
