POLICE are trying to trace a man who is believed to have reported an assault from a public telephone outside an off-licence in Catherine Terrace, New Kyo, near Stanley, at about 4.30am on June 8.
A man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the assault pending further inquiries. Anyone with information has been asked to call Detective Constable Chris Bentham on 0191-375 2511.

HEALTH WALK: Derwentside Doorsteps Walks Programme is holding a sponsored walk in aid of Willow Burn Hospice, Lanchester, at 11am today. The walk is from Park House Surgery, Lanchester, to Malton Picnic Area, where there will be a buffet and entertainment.
HEALING SESSION: The National Federation of Spiritual Healers is to hold a healing session on Saturday, between 1.30pm and 4pm, in the Shakespeare Hall, North Road, Durham.
DONOR DATE: A blood donor session will be held at the Red Lion pub, in Front Street, Chester-le-Street, on Monday, from 3pm to 7pm.
TYRE FIRE: Firefighters were called out after a column of smoke was seen between the New Kyo area and Annfield Plain, yesterday afternoon. They found a large pile of used tyres and old cars on fire.
VILLAGE PARKING: Work begins today to create a small parking area in Quebec, near Langley Park, Durham. Supported with funding from four sources, the six-space parking area and lay-by are being developed opposite the village hall.
SCHOOL CEILIDH: Former pupils are invited to a ceilidh at Cestria Primary School, Chester-le-Street, on Friday, July 4, from 7.30pm. Tickets, costing £2, are available from the school, on 0191-388 2483.

GIVING GENEROUSLY: People living in Consett and the surrounding area contributed £8,018 to Christian Aid Week, last month. Once tax has been reclaimed on the many gift-aid declarations, the amount could rise to nearly £9,000.
OPENING HOURS: Lloyds TSB has announced that its Stanley branch will open on Saturdays from July 5. Full branch services at 65 Front Street will be available to customers from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
