TWO Darlington police officers have been honoured for their life-saving skills.
PCs Emily Harrison and Angela Drasdo went to the aid of a man who had collapsed in his car with a suspected heart attack at Morton Park, Darlington, in November last year. They have received commendations from St John Ambulance.
CARNIVAL TIME: A samba carnival will be held in Crook on Friday. Pupils from 12 nursery and primary schools will leave Glenholme Leisure Centre at 9.45am to visit Parklands, Bradbury House and Southfield Lodge residential care homes for the elderly.
FUN RIDE: The Darlington family treasure trail cycle ride will take place on Sunday. The 15-mile course will include Redworth and High Coniscliffe. The event, part of the town's cycling festival, will leave from the Dolphin Centre at 2.30pm, returning at 5pm. Children under 16 must be accompanied. For details, call Jeff Dawson on (01325) 388427.
CLUB PLANS: An application has been submitted to Darlington Borough Council to build a club room and changing facilities at Eastbourne Club, Hundens Lane, Darlington.
NEW HOMES: Plans to convert disused farm buildings at Newton Ketton Farm, Salters Lane, Brafferton, into two homes have been submitted to Darlington Borough Council.
OPEN DAY: A gardens open day, plus a scarecrow trail competition, will be held at Newsham, between Barnard Castle and Richmond, on Sunday, from 1pm to 6pm. Tickets are available from the village hall.
DANCE SUCCESS: Line dancing champion Amanda Clixby, 13, from Darlington, has reached the final 25 in a talent contest. The Haughton Comprehensive School pupil will compete in the Talentstar final at the Gala Theatre, Durham, on Sunday.
HOSPICE COFFEE: The Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland will hold a coffee morning on Saturday, from 10am.
FEET TREAT: Patients and staff at the Richardson Hospital, in Barnard Castle, are being given advice on foot care today at an event organised by the Durham Dales Primary Care Trust.
FAIR DAY: St Mary's Primary School, Barnard Castle, is holding a fun day on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm.
ART SHOW: Paintings, banners, sketches and pottery by pupils at 18 Teesdale schools will be on dispay at Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, today.
MINI-MARKET: The Shildon corps of the Salvation Army is holding a mini-market on Tuesday, July 1, from 10am to 11.30am, at its community and worship centre, in Cross Street, Shildon.
