THE body of a North-East man is expected to be flown back to the region today after he died in Spain.
Billy Hauxwell, from Stockton, was with his 12-year-old daughter, Jade, in the sea when he realised he was having a heart attack. In a bid to make sure the youngster did not see what was happening, Mr Hauxwell told her to go to the beach.
Although his calls for help were answered by lifeguards, they were unable to resuscitate Mr Hauxwell, 47.
Jade and her mother, Debbie, had to wait for three hours on the beach with his body before it was taken away. Mr Hauxwell, who worked as a development manager in power stations, died on Friday.
His wife and daughter have returned home and are waiting for his body to be flown back and an inquest opened before his funeral can be arranged.
