PEOPLE in south Durham are being urged to help smash a world record and raise money for a national charity.
Bishop Auckland Market Place will host a mass aerobics session on Sunday morning in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Staff from Wear Valley District Council's two leisure centres, in Crook and Bishop Auckland, are staging the event, which will hopefully see more than 40,000 people across the UK taking part when it starts at 11am.
The event is part of the Quorn Commit to Get Fit campaign, which is raising money to help fund Marie Curie Cancer Care's work.
Wear Valley council has also teamed up with The Northern Echo, Durham Dales Primary Care Trust and Northumbrian Water to launch the A Chance to Live campaign.
This seeks to encourage people in the district, which has one of the worst health records in the country, to live healthier through regular exercise and balanced diets.
