A POLE-VAULTING competition will be held in Darlington's Market Square next week.
Darlington Harriers and Athletic Club has linked with the North-East Pole Vault Academy to stage the contest on Friday July 4, at 7pm.
The event will give people an opportunity to see a sport usually confined to an athletics stadium.
In addition to the vaulting, there will be music from North Tyneside Steel Band, and a chance for children to try their hand at circus skills.
There will also be an opportunity to have a go on the region's only mobile climbing wall, which will be in Darlington for the first time.
