TRANSFER-listed midfielder Clarence Acuna is considering a move from Tyneside to Mexico.
The Chilean international, already a target for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, is being lined up by Mexican outfit Cruz Azul for a summer switch across the Atlantic.
Acuna's agent Eduardo Pena confirmed last week that Sporting had contacted him to enquire about his availability.
The former Universidad de Chile player has stated his first desire is regular first-team football - a wish that is more likely to be granted in Mexico.
"To play is my passion, and if they (Newcastle) don't allow me to, I must consider other options," said Acuna.
"One of the options is Cruz Azul, and that would be very good for me because Mexican football has improved a lot."
With Sir Bobby Robson admitting he will also listen to offers for Peruvian winger Nolberto Solano, it appears the Magpies' South American contingent could be non-existent next term if Brazilian Ronaldinho opts for a move to Manchester United rather than Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Newcastle's second game of the season at home to Sir Alex Ferguson's men has been switched to Saturday lunchtime to accommodate the Sky TV cameras.
The match will now kick-off on Saturday, August 23, at noon, and the Magpies' clash with last season's runners-up Arsenal at Highbury has also been moved to Friday, September 26, kick-off 8pm.
