TWO children's play areas have been officially opened following an investment of more than £150,000.
A range of new and improved equipment has been installed on a new site at Grayfields and at the existing King Oswy Drive playground, both in Hartlepool.
The play areas include equipment for younger and older children, and there is also a small skateboard park at Grayfields.
Councillor John Lauderdale, Hartlepool Borough Council's cabinet member for town management, said: "The new play area at Grayfields is one very important part of a wider-ranging scheme that aims to revitalise this popular recreation ground, and I am delighted it has been completed.
"We will now be looking to build on the success of the scheme.
"The old King Oswy Drive playground was also in need of refurbishment and the new and improved equipment is further proof to the council's commitment to provide quality sporting and recreation facilities across the town."
