RISING sports stars will receive expert coaching at a summer school.
The Easington District Sports Summer School programme, sponsored by Dalton Park, provides opportunities for talented youngsters.
It is run in partnership with Durham University and East Durham and Houghall Community College, and involves 150 primary school and 48 secondary schoolchildren selected for their abilities.
They can enjoy week-long programmes in July.
Children aged ten and 11 can learn sports including rowing, fencing, judo and archery. Those aged 14 and 15 will take part in team challenges including an assault course and an It's a Knockout tournament to develop teamwork skills.
Seminars will be held on sports-related careers from physiotherapy to journalism.
The activities will be free and the winners receive a trophy.
