DURHAM Amateur Operatic Society is staging a lavish production of My Fair Lady.
Following three sell-out productions at Durham's Gala Theatre, the society is staging the classic musical from now until Saturday.
Based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, My Fair Lady tells the story of cockney Eliza Doolittle's transformation from a Covent Garden flower seller to a lady.
The production has a cast of almost 70, a full orchestra, and colourful sets and costumes, and has been directed by Fred Wharton, supported by musical director George Hetherington, and choreographer Janet Dixon. It stars South Tyneside teacher Delia McNally as Eliza and Durham teacher Anthony Smith as Professor Henry Higgins.
Tickets for the matinee and evening performances are available from the box office on (0191) 332 4041.
