ANYONE passing Hurworth Comprehensive School yesterday could have been forgiven for thinking an episode of Top of the Pops was being recorded.
Hits from Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Girls Aloud could be heard coming from the village school, near Darlington.
The tunes were not the work of international singing stars, however, but of young local performers.
Twenty-five pupils entertained the school with their karaoke performances and dance routines.
Winning pupils received points towards a trophy, to be awarded for the most successful school house at the end of term on July 18.
