A BROWNIE pack has entered a national gardening competition after receiving help from the local community.
The Brownies of Middleton St George appealed in The Northern Echo for help with their entry in the Greenfingers Challenge which asked youngsters to turn a community area into a garden.
The girls got to work in the village community centre garden using implements and plants donated by local people and were also given help in maintaining the area when they were away.
A spokeswoman for the group said: "The girls have tried to make a difference to the community centre garden for humans and wildlife.
"They have containers with herbs, a diversity plot with plants and flowers originating from different parts of the world and a wildlife garden. The girls have also planted various spring bulbs for next year.
"The girls have had a wonderful time taking part in the challenge and are looking forward to our garden being more established."
