CROWDS are expected at the Coundon and Leeholme Gala on Leeholme Recreation Ground today.
Children and adults can join in five-a-side football, and tournaments organised by the cricket and bowls clubs. The event starts with a procession from Grey Gardens, Coundon, at 11.30am, arriving at the recreation ground at 12.15pm. People are being invited to take photographs of previous carnivals to be displayed.
PRACTICAL LESSONS: Teenagers from Teesdale School, Staindrop Comprehensive and St John's RC Comprehensive, in Bishop Auckland visited Spennymoor Leisure Centre for a basic skills event, organised by Education Business Connections, the Construction Industry Training Board and the CA Group from Evenwood.
SUMMER FAIR: Willington Football Club is holding a summer fair today, from 10am to 4pm, and tomorrow, from 11am to 3pm.
VINTAGE CARS: The Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland, is holding a vintage and classic car event in Bishop Auckland Market Place on Tuesday, from 5.30pm to 9pm.
VOLUNTEER WINNER: Ben Hindmoor, from Oakenshaw, won a £50 McGurk Sports voucher at an open day promoting volunteering and sports clubs at Willington's Parkside Community Association. ACCESS AWARD: The Asda store in Bishop Auckland has been awarded a Durham County Council environment award for access. Before construction started, Wear Valley Disability Access Forum was consulted on the design of the building, car parks and paths.
STYLISH PARADE: Vintage cars and motorbikes will be driving through the grounds of Raby Castle, near Staindrop, tomorrow, when car clubs from across the North gather for the first of a series of rallies. There will also be an auto jumble sale.
MUSIC NIGHT: The Ravenswood Singers and Opera Live are Putting On the Ritz at Bishop Auckland Town Hall tomorrow, at 7.30pm, when they perform songs from hit musicals. Tickets are available on (01388) 602610.
