Volunteers are sought for the annual clean-up of Catterick Garrison's Coronation Park.
People are welcome to join soldiers for a day which includes family entertainment, a bouncy castle, pony rides and a barbecue. Tools, bags and gardening gloves will be provided for the clean-up operation, which begins at 1pm.
SPECIAL GUEST: Richmond MP William Hague will be in the town today to help launch an extension to a shop in Finkle Street that has been extended to include more room for books. Mr Hague will also be urged to lend his support to the charity's Scale Up For Trade Justice Campaign.
RELAY FUNDS: A gruelling relay run around the Yorkshire Dales last weekend is likely to have raised about £3,000 for the Samantha Dickson Research Trust to combat the causes of brain tumours in young people. Ripon Runners covered 100 miles in two days, setting off and finishing in Reeth.
HORSE PLAY: The Wykeham Country Fair has confirmed it will be hosting the British Horseball Association's fourth league weekend on July 19 and July 20. Twenty teams are expected to compete in the sport, described as a cross between basketball and rugby on horseback.
HIGHWAYS WARNING: Contractors will be working in Thirsk's York Road on Monday to remove a traffic island. The work is expected to take about three days to complete.
GOING GREEN: Free ecology awareness workshops are being run by Scarborough Borough Council this summer. Talks on a variety of ecology-based subjects begin on Wednesday and will include tips on composting, recycling, healthy-eating and how to grow your own fruit and vegetables. TEE TIME: Romanby Golf Club hosts a charity tournament in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society on Monday, July 21. The first of the four-strong teams tee-off at 8am and will play to Stableford rules. Thousands of pounds worth of prizes are offered in the competition, sponsored by the Massingberd group, while the day is rounded off with entertainment in the clubhouse in the evening.
