A busy solicitor who acted wrongly for both bank and buyer during the sale of a pub has been fined £5,000 by the Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal.
David Leathard, 51, of Birdsall and Snowball, York Place, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, wept as he told the tribunal he felt awful about the deal.
He admitted he had impaired his independence and had acted for both lender and borrower where there was a conflict of interest, and had drafted a false document in the deal for the Coachman Inn, Snainton, near Scarborough.
