A TOWER block used by drug users and squatters may soon be demolished.
Middlesbrough Council's planning committee met yesterday to discuss an outline planning application to demolish the nine-storey Teesside House office block in the town's Borough Road, and replace it with a single storey retail unit.
Teesside House, which used to be the offices of the former Cleveland County Council, has been empty since 1997.
Last year, the council agreed that metal cladding could be erected round it to keep out squatters and drug addicts.
The council has agreed to approve an outline planning application for demolition.
