AN inquest was opened and adjourned into the death of a motorcyclist who died on Saturday.
David Kershaw, of Salisbury Place, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, died when his Kawasaki 1100cc motorbike collided with a Citroen Xsara Picasso.
The 51-year-old had been travelling north along the B6282 at Woodland, near Barnard Castle, when the accident happened at 5.25pm. He was certified dead at the scene.
His wife, Anne, confirmed his identity at the Bishop Auckland inquest on Thursday and South Durham coroner Colin Penna adjourned the proceedings until investigations were complete.
Mr Kershaw's funeral takes place on Monday, at St Andrew's Church, Bishop Auckland, at 12.15pm, followed by cremation at Darlington Crematorium.
