ARMED police arrested a 49-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both from Newton Aycliffe, in Darlington on Friday, after receiving reports of a driver being threatened with a gun.
They also found a plastic replica weapon.
The armed response unit was despatched after a driver reported a man pointing a gun at him from another car in the car park at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
A police helicopter searched the area while police made their arrests. The pair were released on bail.

CABINET MEETING: A meeting of Sedgefield Borough Council's cabinet will be held in the council offices, Green Lane, Spennymoor, on Thursday, at 10am.

ALLOTMENT TALKS: A meeting of Spennymoor Town Council's allotments committee will be held tomorrow, in the town hall, at 6.45pm. It will be followed by a meeting of the finance and general purposes committee.
HEALTH COUNCIL: A meeting of South Durham and Weardale Community Health Council will be held in the Clairmont Family Centre, Princes Street, Bishop Auckland, tomorrow, at 1.30pm.
