Middleton St George made it nine wins our of nine and maintained their position at the top of Division A. Their victory came at home to Heighington who they bowled out for 112 after posting 207 for four. Runs were at a premium when Heighington batted second and seven bowlers were used in the home attack. Simon Rodgers claimed two wickets without conceding a run, Binks returned two for 16 and Ashton two for 25.
When they made first use of the wicket, Middleton St George were indebted to a third wicket partnership between Lyub who carried his bat for 78 and Simon Rodgers with 52. Overfield took two for 33 and Beaumont two for 41 for Heighington.
Barton won by 30 runs at Haughton. They made first use of the wicket and ended with respectable 177 for eight which included 35 by Lockey who opened the innings. Heddon made a similar score but the biggest contribution came from Frankland with 38 while for Haughton McCarthy took four for 39 and Wilkinson three for 46.
When they went in to bat Haughton lost both openers for a combined total of just 12 runs before Bean with 47 and Wilkinson, who carried his bat for 44, progressed the scoring but when time was up the home side had managed only 147 for six. Frankland returned two for 36 and Barker two for 24 for Barton.
Rockcliffe Park are third and they had 129 runs in hand of Cliffe. Batting first Rockcliffe Park realised 269 for seven as the runs flowed from Wheeler (41) Fiddell (31), Timmins with 50 and Garbutt, who scored 65 before being run out. for good measure, the work was carried on by Swanick (26) and Garbutt (22no). When they responded, Cliffe were restricted to 140 for nine and seven of the wickets were taken by Krishnan for 70 runs.
Barningham defeated Aldbrough St John by three wickets following a low scoring game. When they made first use of the wicket Aldbrough St John were back in the pavilion with only 72 runs on the board as Mossford returned five for 30 and Walker three for 28.
The Barningham batsmen also found runs hard to come by and they lost seven wickets before winning.
Ingleton had 125 runs in hand of Witton le Wear. Elgey (49) and Woods, with an excellent undefeated 91, opened the innings for Ingleton before Stuart Dawson contributed 28 to the total of 200 for three. Two of the wickets were taken by Nelson for 77 runs as Witton le Wear used only three bowlers in the attack.
When they replied, Witton le Wear were all out for just 75 which included 32 by Bannister. Gamack had the outstanding figures of seven for 38 and Selkirk picked up three wickets for just 37 runs for Ingleton.
Poole batted through Raby Castle's innings ending unbeaten on 101 out of a total of 203 for the loss of just one wicket. Dent added 49 and West carried his bat for 32 in the home game with Cockerton who were all out for just 98. Farrow top scored with 35 but throughout the batsmen were well contained by Dent, with five for 29 and Skaife (4-34).
Catterick Village continue to lead Division B and they won for the seventh time in nine attempts defeating Spennithorne and Harmby. Batting first, the home side totalled 169 for seven as Sedgeley opened with 26 and Farrow made 57. Tunstall contributed a useful 28 while for Catterick Village, Galey returned three for 65, Ostelton two for 28 and Swainston two for 55.
Replying, Catterick Village made a good star through Galey with 39 before Coultish (35) and Swainston (47no) formed a productive mid-order partnership which paved the way for a four wickets win.
Middleton in Teesdale and Rockcliffe Park share second position. Middleton in Teesdale went to Dales and won by a margin of 32 runs. Watson batted throughout the Middleton innings finishing undefeated on 87 out of a total of 152 for nine which included 30 by Garth. Hutchinson took six of the nine wickets for just 48 runs and replying Dales were all out for 120 as Coatesworth returned the magnificent figures of eight for 53. The other two wickets were claimed by Watson at a cost of 59 runs. Simpson top performed with the bat for Dales scoring 38 and Bowers added 28.
Wiper (43) and Wilkinson (44) were in good form for Middleton Tyas at Rockcliffe Park leading their side to 169 for seven which included 30 not out by Campbell. Flood was in good form with the ball for Rockcliffe Park, taking three for 32 and Westgarth returned two for 44.
When they replied to a target of 170 Rockcliffe Park made a reasonable beginning through Raby (20) and Pounder (26). Later, Westgarth ended unbeaten on 23 and Taylor contributed 20 not out to a two wickets victory. Of the eight wickets which fell Campbell took six of them for 90 runs.
Trimdon CCA defeated Eryholme by six wickets. Required to score 145 they were indebted to Steven Gofton who was on 94 when dismissed. Lee contributed 29 and earlier Eryholme posted 144 for nine. Thornton opened the innings scoring 23 and Chismon made 46 before Robson senior scored 23 towards the end of the innings. Carter with five for 45 and Coughtry (3-23) shared eight wickets in the Trimdon CCA attack.
Lands made a useful 135 but still lost by seven wickets to Spennymoor. Troop ended undefeated on 58 out of a total of 137 for three with two of the wickets falling to Little for 40 runs.
When they batted first, Lands were indebted to Elstob for his half century but generally runs were scarce as Rawl took seven for 50 and Troop three for 57.
Heighington hosted East Cowton and the home side won by two wickets. Grant (38), Whelton (55) and Smith with 35 hoisted East Cowton to the useful total of 178 for seven.
Sourby was the most successful bowler in the Heighington attack with two for 31 when he was brought on as third change.
When they responded Heighington were given a good start by Sourby with 51 but wickets fell cheaply until Hodgson (44) steadied the ship. Even so, it took an unbroken partnership for the ninth wicket between Miller with 15 not out and Jamieson (22no) to win the game for Heighington.
In Division C, Barningham had 50 runs in hand of Aldbrough St John.
Raby Castle managed only 55 and lost by eight wickets to Cockerton. Gill with four for 16 and Rawlings whose five wickets were taken at a cost of just 23 runs, were the bowler responsible for Raby Castle's cheap dismissed.
Widdall then carried his bat for 39 as Cockerton replied with a match winning 57 for two.
Lands managed just 45 all out against Cliffe who went on to win with six wickets in tact.
Runs were more plentiful for King James in their game with Trimdon CCA.
A Hill (45), Oughton (41) and S Hill with 40 propelled King James to 177 for eight with Young taking five for 50.
Responding Trimdon CCA were back in the pavilion for just 77 runs as Brack took six for 38 and S Hill three for 30.
Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill overtook the Brompton on Swale total of 104 with four wickets remaining. Strong finished unbeaten on 30 and for Brompton Laybourne claimed three for 30.
Batting first, Brompton ended on 104 as Strong took six wickets for 39 runs and Craggs four for 65.
