ROADS on a Scarborough estate may soon take on a new look.
The borough council is expected to agree a package of measures tomorrow to improve safety in the Eastfield area.
A 20mph zone, speed cushions, humps and pedestrian refuges are included, as well as a cycle lane and signs designed by Overdale School pupil Emma Cairney.
"The council is committed to achieving the targets set by the Government for casualty reduction and, as part of our work towards this, we are carrying out traffic calming measures in Scarborough," said the authority's cabinet member for environment, transport and public health, Councillor Godfrey Allanson.
"This scheme will be welcomed by residents who have raised concerns about traffic speed and I am very pleased to launch these measures officially, which I hope will make the area safer for pedestrians and motorists alike," he said.
