A TRIAL radio station took to the air waves at the weekend in the latest stage of its bid to win the licence to broadcast to Durham City and the surrounding area.
Durham FM began broadcasting on Saturday, offering a mix of music, entertainment information and news.
It is the second trial period for the radio station, which first went on air shortly before Christmas.
The station, which can be heard on 107FM, is in the former Tourist Information Centre premises in the Market Place.
Output began with Pete Clough at the microphone. Over the next fortnight presenters will include David Green and John Caine, who is also station controller.
Durham FM is one of two bidders for a licence to serve the area. Rival bidder DLR (Durham Local Radio) will have its second stint on air in September.
Durham FM will be broadcasting until Friday, July 18. For further information visit the www.durhamfm.net website.
