Seventeen-year-old Hannah Creelman an A Level student at Northallerton College has got back into her winning ways by taking the gold medal in the North East Counties sprint championships at Sheffield.
Hannah who swims for Thirsk White Horse made the decision not to compete in major championships last September so she could concentrate on her studies. She has, however, kept up her gruelling training programme, regularly getting up at 5.20am to train under the watchful eye of her coach Dave Smith.
Hannah said the training has paid off and although surprised to take the gold in the 50m freestyle in a time of 28.04 secs she said she had to fight all the way to win it.
She currently holds a Scottish National record for the 50m freestyle and she is now in serious training for the English Nationals in August. In her spare time Hannah (pictured) passed on her water skills to the youngsters she teaches at Northallerton and Thirsk.
