A TEENAGER suffered severe facial wounds after being glassed in an unprovoked attack.
The 17-year-old was attacked just after midnight as he and a friend were walking home after a party in Redcar.
He felt a tap on his shoulder and when he turned around, a glass object was thrust in his face, causing deep wounds to the left side of his forehead.
As he fell to the ground, he was punched two or three times.
Blood, which was pouring from the wound, left him temporarily blinded. He was later treated in Middlesbrough General Hospital.
The attack took place on Saturday in Foxrush Close, near Somerfield Supermarket, in Redcar.
The victim's friend, who briefly saw the attacker, described him as in his late teens to early 20s, and 5ft 8in or 5ft 9in. He was of medium build and had short, dark brown hair. The attacker was believed to be wearing dark tracksuit bottoms.
