THE third annual Durham Police and Durham FA girls' seven-a-side tournament is this weekend.
The event will be held at police headquarters at Aykley Heads on Saturday and Sunday.
Thirty-two teams of girls aged ten to 14 are taking part. Joint organiser PC Ian Kirkup said: "Although we have a full complement of teams set to take part we want to encourage other girls interested in football to come along and find out how they can take part in the sport. We can put them in touch with clubs that have officials with the necessary qualifications to ensure the training and playing environment is safe."
On Saturday there is the Under-12s competition with the final at around 4.30pm, and on Sunday it is the turn of the Under-14s, with the final at around 3pm. For more details call (0191) 384 7006.
