BISHOP Auckland Golf Club captain Allan Milne, above, left, showed his gratitude to long-serving greenkeeper John Laws by making him a surprise presentation.
As club members and their friends celebrated one of the biggest weekends of their year, Mr Laws was given a watch as thanks for 25 years of loyal service.
Mr Milne made the presentation during a social evening marking his captain's weekend. He said: "John started as a casual labourer and has stayed ever since. He has always worked hard and got on with his job."
The club has a charity team tournament this Saturday, raising money for Mr Milne's chosen charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The entry fee is £120 for each four-man team, including a meal.
