HAMBLETON District Council's cabinet is calling for an urgent report on flood defence work.
Council leader Arthur Barker has asked that, as a result of a report on solutions to Northallerton's flooding issues presented to the Hambleton Flood Forum last week, the district council look at its input.
"I want a report to cabinet at the earliest opportunity so we can assess this authority's contribution to funding solutions," he said. "This is in line with assurances given to the residents of Northallerton that this council would act in partnership to fund properly-costed schemes when they were presented."
The forum heard a range of options had been drawn up.
The county's environmental services director, Mike Moore, said flood defence work could be delayed by funding issues. He is waiting for a decision on a Defra grant and did not have money for major projects.
