SUPER-FIT track cycling specialist Peter Smith pedalled his way to three wins in four races at the National Masters Championships in Herne Hills.
The 62-year-old Guisborough fitness fanatic got himself into top shape to tackle the prestige event and was rewarded with gold in the sprint, 500m standing start and the 10km scratch race.
"The sprint and the standing start were the two medals I really went down for," said the retired marketing manager.
Though delighted with the wins, Smith admitted that they are really a tune up for a stab at bigger glory later this season.
He won a pair of bronze medals in the standing start and sprint at the last World Masters Championships and wants to claim further top honours in this year's competition when it returns to Manchester in September.
He said: "The nationals were the start of the racing build-up for the World Masters and as further preparation I have entered an open track meeting at Manchester this month where the GB world championship team are competing."
