A MAN was recovering in hospital last night after being stabbed by a woman with a large-bladed kitchen knife.
The 42-year-old victim, who has not been named, was found bleeding from knife wounds in his back and shoulder, following the attack in Stanley, County Durham, at the weekend.
Acting Detective Sergeant Ian Mitchell said officers were called to the rear of Mackays News, in Stanley, shortly after 5pm on Sunday, by a woman reporting that her partner had been stabbed by another woman.
The man, who is from the South Moor area of the town, was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham, before being transferred to Newcastle's Freeman Hospital, where he was described last night as comfortable.
A 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of wounding and was last night being questioned by police.
