Durham League: Leeholme are threatening a repeat of their Championship win of last season after they closed the gap at the top of the First Division to only one point following their whitewash of the visiting Wingate. Leeholme demolished the visitors by 103 shots to 55 to go one point behind leaders, Crook Glenholme, who dropped two points to bottom of the table Shotton.
Langley Park produced the shock win of the day when they beat the visiting Ever Ready/Craghead, who were previously a threat to the leaders but have now slipped ten points adrift of Leeholme. Langley Park won by 84 shots to 77 with the rink scores (Langley Park names first) E. Cornell 25 P. Calvert 15; K. Johnson 19 A. Brown 23; F. Tulip 17 M. English 21; D. Henderson 23 G. Williams 18.
In the Second Division Nevilles Cross moved into a commanding 14 points lead following their success at Newton Hall. Durham's Northern Group matches came to a conclusion with a 142-79 victory over Lancashire in the B team Alsop Trophy event. Durham took all 22 points.
South West Durham League
The first fixtures of the second half of the season brought revenge for Brandon, Glenholme and Shildon Railway who all lost on the opening day. The only side to complete the double was Spennymoor A, who again took maximum points against Langley Park. Second division leaders Spectrum lost for the second week in a row but Wolsingham missed out on top spot when they too were beaten.
