A VILLAGE show which almost folded two years ago because of the foot-and-mouth disease crisis will reach a milestone next month.
Sedgefield celebrates its 150th show on Saturday, August 9, at the Robert Brown Showfield, in West Park.
Volunteers have been working hard to maintain the long tradition and, although the categories may have changed, local produce will still be on display as it was at the very first show.
Clydesdales are in short supply, but there will be plenty of other horses, sheep and cattle competing for prizes.
Horticulture, handicraft, photography and writing categories will be contested, with sections for guinea pigs, rabbits, poultry and other birds.
Vintage tractors will give visitors a glimpse of the past, while other displays of memorabilia will sustain the sense of history.
There are dog agility events, where leading trainers and their animals will show off their credentials.
An organiser said: "Take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the tradition of a show that almost slipped off the calendar two years ago. Volunteers are going ahead with the Sedgefield Show this year."
Entries for the show close on Friday.
Gates open to visitors on show day at 10am, with the grand parade at 3.15pm.
