DETECTIVES are trying to find out if there was any mail in an old-fashioned pillar box stolen from a wall.
Thieves chipped away part of the stonework before using a jemmy to prise the box out of the wall in Hury, near Cotherstone, Teesdale, at the weekend.
The box was used by residents in Baldersdale, who are asked to report if any letters they posted do not arrive.
An attempt to steal a Victorian pillar box failed in Staindrop a few weeks ago.
