Craig White and Yuvraj Singh go into Yorkshire's Championship match against Hampshire at Scarborough today with sharply contrasting batting fortunes.
White, on his home ground, is looking to continue the phenomenal form which has brought him 338 runs in his last three Championship innings.
After missing the first half of the season following his rib operation, White returned at Taunton where he was run out for six in his only innings. But he was back to his sparkling best at Derby, flogging an unbeaten 173 in the ten-wicket victory over Derbyshire.
Then at Riverside last week he rattled off 135no with all the same fluency and poise and followed up with 30 before falling lbw to Vince Wells - the first time since his comeback that a bowler had claimed his wicket.
Yuvraj, on the other hand, does not know where his next first-class run is coming from and he was out for seven and a duck against Durham to leave him with 111 Championship runs from eight innings.
The Indian, who was signed in May as a replacement for Australian Matthew Elliott, has failed to reach double figures in any of his last five innings and his only score of any note was 56 off Durham's attack at Headingley.
Yuvraj has shown glimpses of his ability and if he comes good at Scarborough today his season with Yorkshire will be following a similar pattern to that of Australian Greg Blewett in 1999.
Blewett had a generally miserable time, but he excelled on his first visit to North Marine Road in late July when he hammered Northamptonshire for 98 in the first innings and 190 in the second.
